Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre
8:00 Pick up at 283/8 Pham Ngu Lao Street, District 1, HCMC or your hotel in Saigon and drive to Ben Tre. We will visit some local workshops. First is a rice paper cake workshop and see how they were made by hand, then a brick kiln. Next, take a boat to visit the coconut candy workshop. Here, see manufacturing process of making coconut candies – specialty of this coconut land. It is very interesting to watch the local men peeling coconuts by hand. Friendly locals will invite you to try some delicious coconut candies. Continue cruising on the river for relax tension, see daily activities by the riverside to see how local people’s fishing on the Ba Lai river.
Stop to enjoy the lunch with featured dishes of delta region at the garden of Mr. 10 Ưa (Thuy Uyen restaurant).
In the afternoon, take a ride on local vehicle called “xe loi” on the village roads through the green coconut forest and cocoa garden to visit grapefruit and coconut gardens. Spend time in the gardens, pick and enjoy fresh coconut water. Take crowing-boat along meandering canal under the shade of palm trees on the shore. Continue to visit a milpa and feel the daily life of the people. You can try hands on picking grass, fertilizing with the local farmers. On the way you can take a rest at local home to see the local people makes sugar cane juice – you can do it yourself.
Late afternoon, transfer to hotel in Can Tho for overnight.

Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market
Start from the early morning, leave Can Tho to make our way up the river to the market at Cai Rang, which is about 6km away. It’s one of the most photogenic spots you’ll find in Vietnam. If anything, a boat trip is a great experience to have a somewhat more personal experience on the market because it really is a memorable and fascinating adventure. You will see bustling activities along the riverbanks as well as how they transport passengers and goods by the waterway. Arrive in Cai Rang floating market, you will notice an interesting “way of advertising” by hanging products that they offer on a pole. To understand more about local lifestyle, keep on cruising into smaller canal. Disembark to visit Binh Thuy Temple and the 135 year Binh Thuy House. Time at leisure in the afternoon. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 3: Can Tho – Sa Dec – Saigon
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Sa Dec town where is famous and floriculture village as well as ideal place for people whose love the rural life of the Southern. Visit Tan Hoa communal temple, a historic national culture. Then visit brick “factory” in Xeo Vat village where bricks made from clay from Sa Dec River in traditional way.
Explore Sa Dec market, you will know the different daily activities of the locals.
Next stop is the ancient house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le. He was the Chinese man who adored Marguerite Duras in her youth. That love she wrote a despairing, sensuous novel then adapted to film of same name – L’Amant (The Lover).
After that, visit Kien An Cung Pagoda of Huynh Thuy Le’s family where a group of Chinese people living in Sa Dec Town for generations and Trung Vuong primary school (former Girls’ school of Sa Dec) that Marguertite Duras’s mother was the principal. Back to Saigon. End of service.
